You can bring firearms into Canada for hunting, but they must meet the country’s non-restricted classification, and you’ll need to complete a temporary firearm import form (Form RCMP 5589) in advance or at the border.
We’ll walk you through the entire process to make it easy. For moose hunting, popular calibers like .300 Winchester Magnum, .338 Winchester Magnum, and similar high-powered rifles are recommended due to the size and durability of the animal. For black bears, hunters often choose reliable mid-to-large calibers like .30-06 Springfield or .30-30 Winchester.
